This will be my 16th year working the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and it’s just as exciting as the first! So as a true insider in the know, I’m sharing why this sale is so special and how to approach this fashion event of the year like a pro.

WHY THE NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY IS A BIG DEAL…

First of all, the #Nsale is unlike any other sale and this is why … the merchandise is brand-new fall and ready-to-wear now merchandise straight from the vendor. After the sale, the prices go back up to full retail! This is a great time to try new brands and trends while prices are much lower, about 30-40% off retail. The Beauty Exclusives offer the best bundled sets and are an extra value.

THE KEY IS IN THE CARD

This isn’t a gimmick to get more people to sign up for a Nordstrom card (although that’s not a bad idea and you really should have one if only to get access to the #Nsale) but rather it’s a reward for the top tier spenders. Icons will get to shop first before the most popular items sell out. So it really does pay to be a cardholder.

Here’s when you can shop:

ICONS: July 9

AMBASSADORS: JULY 10

INFLUENCERS: JULY 11

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC: JULY 15

WHEN SHOULD YOU SHOP?

Now that you know what day you can shop the sale, next step is to have your wish list ready to go, add to cart and check out asap! That would be at midnight (eastern time). Make sure to make it a personal point day to get the maximum notes back. Then you can use those when you go back for a second round to stock up on the basics.

And don’t forget to shop for gifts during this epic sale. You’ll be happy later when you’ve crossed off some of those upcoming birthday, shower and holiday gifts.

HOT #NSALE TIP: If possible, choose expedited shipping because the web pickers have a deadline to find those items first BEFORE they fill the other regular, non-expedited orders.

WHAT ARE THE BEST DEALS?

The best deals are on items that you will love and wear on the reg! You can always return later, so if you’re shopping online, consider 2 sizes when unsure how a brand fits. The best deals and biggest discounts are always on the more pricey items like fine jewelry, home items, and designer coats. For example, you can save over $250 on this Tumi luggage, over $500 on this luxe Max Mara coat, and almost $2000 saved on this Bony Levy Ruby bracelet!

Denim is a category that everyone wears practically everyday. So it is definitely a good idea to update your denim now! Here are a few of my faves that I either personally own, have tried on or seen on.Of course you know your girl is gonna get those barrel leg jeans if they are still available in my size on the 15th and I love the big cuff hem trend too!

The brands that will sell out the fastest are almost always in the women’s contemporary category. That means first shop the popular brands such as Veronica Beard, Lagence, Cinq a Sept, Rag & Bone, Vince, Reiss, Mother, Frame, Allsaints, Paige, and Theory. This sweatshirt by Isabel Marant will 100% sell out super fast! Don’t panic if your favorites are sold out, because items come back so be patient and keep checking!

1 DESIGNER ON THE #NSALE

Anything designer is also a fabulous opportunity to get a special piece that might otherwise be beyond reach. Designer Coats like this one from Max Mara are beautiful classic pieces that will be in your closet for years to come!

This is the best time to buy a new coat and the COAT selection on the #Nsale this year is really good! There are 7 coats by Reiss on the #Nsale this year and all look chic and expensive.

One of my favorite things to buy is Designer Sunglasses during the #Nsale – the selection and prices are insanely good! I have my eye on these Celine sunnies here.

We’ve embraced the RED trend in a huge way! I love how the color red makes a statement on women of all shades and hair colors from black to platnium! From this cute Red Cinq a Sept long sleeve dress to red shoes and sneakers here, there’s something for everyone to stay on trend and feel just a little spicy 🙂
