There is no denying that brown suede is the must-have trend on everyones list this fall. This trend first hit the scene with The Row’s Margeaux in suede here. It comes with a hefty price tag and it’s extremely hard to get. Yet, I couldn’t get it out of my head! There’s something so yummy about this dark, rich shade of brown — especially in suede — that really reminds me of my favorite Hershey’s chocolate bar with almonds. 🙂 I decided to interpret this trend with a practical suede tote bag — so began my quest for the perfect chocolate brown tote to satisfy this craving. I’m sharing my top two contenders for you to consider as well. But don’t ask me to share my Hershey bar (IYKYK).

The Madewell Shopper vs. J.Crew Berkeley

I first saw the Banana Republic Slouchy Vida Suede Bag in chocolate and taupe suede. Though the chocolate sold out fast, I had ruled it out because the height was a little extra at 14″H x 13″W x 6″D. If you’re a tall gal, it might be perfect for you. I felt like my entire arm fit in the bag when trying to reach inside.

Then I found the J.Crew Berkeley in chocolate brown. I admit when it’s the middle of a hot summer, it’s hard to get serious about fall buys. So I hesitated on the Berkeley purchase, didn’t pull the trigger only to then see it was sold out as well. Don’t worry, it’s back in stock here.
